ABOUT ME
Fiona Couchman
After Fiona obtained her BSc (Hons) Psychology degree, she completed a post-graduate qualification in Existential Counselling and Psychotherapy, an MA in Play Therapy (UK) and most recently, an MSc in Attachment. Fiona has spent the last 16 years working in a range of environments, including schools, private practice, hospitals, and children’s residential homes.

Fiona has a special interest in adoption and children in care, which developed when she worked for the UK National Health Service (NHS) in a highly specialist multidisciplinary Children and Adolescents Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team.
​
Fiona has robust theoretical and practical knowledge of child development, child psychopathology, developmental trauma, attachment, interpersonal neurobiology and different therapeutic approaches.
​
Fiona combines theoretical knowledge, practical skills and personal qualities of warmth, acceptance and non-judgement to build a positive therapeutic relationship with her clients.
She is experienced in providing therapy for children and adults from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

Fiona enjoys collaborative working with colleagues as she continues to develop her skills and knowledge in her chosen field of expertise.

Fiona has a specific interest in Developmental Trauma and Attachment Theory, particularly as it is expressed in young children who have suffered loss, neglect and abuse, and working with children who have been sexually abused.
